Hyperhabitat. Reprogramming the World is an installation directed by Vicente Guallart and produced for the 11th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, which will be curated by Aaron Betsky under the title Out There: Architecture Beyond Building.
For the development of the project, Guallart Architects, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, MITs Center for Bits and Atoms and Bestiario have created a consortium to address the various aspects of the proposal.
The project engages with the theme of the Biennale by positing the need to reprogramme the structures with which we inhabit the world through the introduction of distributed intelligence in the nodes, networks and environments with which we construct buildings, cities and territories.
The exhibition will be open to public from September 14th until November 23rdhttp://www.hyperhabitat.net
Fab Lab BCN & MIT
Fab Academy after 3 months has collaborate with students from Barcelona, Norway, Madrid, Amsterdam, USA, distributing education program on Digital Fabricatin, electronics, Interaction and high technology computing systems.
IaaC hosted the launching meeting of the Fab Academy program together with the MIT CBA and different Fab Labs of the world. Fab Academy is a distributed educational program based on the digital and personal fabrication.
Fab Lab Bcn is compromised with this evolving and innovative educational project.

Lanzamiento Fab Lab Pro
Demos / Cocktail: 3D Print, CNC, Laser Cutter
IaaC faculty members awarded with the Spanish National Prize for the best Thesis Project of 2007
The thesis project of Daniel Ibañez in collaboration with Rodrigo Rubio has obtained the first prize for the best thesis project presented in Spain in 2007. Former IaaC students and actual faculty members Daniel and Rodrigo, developed the project called Tradding exchanger in Roosevelt Island, NY.
The project was based in 3 main controversies, 3 lines of development:
1.Hyperconectivity: Is it possible to generate a node of maximum connectivity in the end of an island? Implementation of the transport networks
2.Porous Density: Is it possible to overlap landscape and architecture? Continuous double spiral
3. Dualities: Is it possible to integrate simultaneously opposite but complementary realities? Close vs. open, artificial vs. natural, mall vs. streetmarket, controlled vs. spontaneous, vehicle vs. pedestrian,…

Hyperhabitat: Reprograming the world > 11th Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition
HYPERHABITAT: THE PROJECT
The purpose of the installation is to build a 1:1 scale prototype plan of a housing building for young people with shared spaces and connected through an information system to the world.
The idea is to demonstrate that in order to make a more self sufficient world with decentralized networks, the functional relationships between the different elements of the habitability networks need to be redesigned.
For the project's development an interdisciplinary team has been formed with Guallart Architects, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, The Center for Bits and Atoms from MIT, which along professionals and enterprises related to technological development, such as Bestiario, will make the installation.
A workshop is running now at IaaC for the production of the instalation

Venice Biennale Workshop
Venice Biennale workshop started on July the 7th and its aim is to produce the installation that will be representing Vicente Guallart (IaaC Director) work at the 11th Edition of the Venice Biennale Architecture Exhibition titled: Architecture beyond buildings. Researchers and collaborators from MIT, IaaC, Bestiario and others are part of the production process of a 1:1 scale reconfigurable and shared living space representing the multi-scalar systems that constructs the world. On August the 5th the installation will be transported to Venice with part of the research team.
