Event's IaaC - IaaC Faculty Members Prized in Arquitectar o Ambiente Ideas Contest

"ReD, Research + Design, the studio founded by IAAC's faculty members Marta Malé-Alemany and José Pedro Sousa, won the architecural competition "Arquitectar o Ambiente", promoted by the Portuguese company Labicer, with the support of the Portuguese Architects Association. The competition challenged participants to design a temporary installation for the Departures Terminal of the Lisbon Airport, showing innovative applications of Labicer's recycable material 'Vitrakem' (www.labicer.com / http://www.arquitectaroambiente.com/).
ReD submitted 2 projects, which were both awarded in the competition: "Flying Carpet", an installation that explored Vitrakem as a structural and cladding material, got a Special Honorable Mention, while "Sample Box", an installation that exposed the different colors of the Vitrakem Catalogue, was awarded the 1st prize. The winning entry will now go into fabrication, in order to be installed at the Lisbon Airport on November 1st.http://www.re-d-com
