MAA Final Reviews 2011- Open to the public

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia invites you to the final studio presentations for the Masters in Advanced Architecture class of 2010/2011. 

Join us for the three days of studio presentations:

Digital Tectonics- Monday, June 27th at 10.30h
Self Sufficient Buildings- Wednesday, June 29th at 10.30h
Emergent Territories- Thursday, June 30th at 10.30h

The final presentations will take place in the IAAC Auditorium and are open to the public.

Jury panel will consist of IAAC MAA Directors, studio assistants and guest jurors:

Digital Tectonics

Branko Kolarevic (LID, University of Calgary)- Branko Kolarevic has taught architecture for over two decades at several universities in North American and Asia and has lectured worldwide on the use of Digital technologies in design and production.

Vera Parlac (LID, University of Calgary) - Vera Parlac is Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Calgary and a founding co-director of the Laboratory for Integrative Design (LID) at the University of Calgary.

Self Sufficient Buildings

Ali Kermanian (Ali Kermanian & Associates)- Established in 1990, Ali Kermanian & Associates is amongst the most active and recognized firms in contemporary architecture in Tehran, Iran.

José Pérez de Lama (Hackitectura.net)- José Pérez de Lama has a Ph.D. in Architecture and is a professor at Universidad de Sevilla Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura. As member of Hackitectura.net he researches and develops projects which attempt to relate digital technologies, public spaces, free software, social networks politics and science fiction.

Antonio San Martin (aSZ Architects)- Antonio San Martin is co-founder of the Barcelona-based aSZ Architects and since 1991 he has been Associate Professor in the Department of Architectural Design at UPC.

Cristina Sendra (Eco Inteligent Growth)- Cristina Sendra's work is focused on the analysis of metabolic systems; countries, industries or companies, and other tools of environmental quantify.

Lluis Viu Rebes and Jordi Pages i Ramon (Max de Cusa Arquitectes)- Lluis Viu Rebes and Jordi Pages i Ramon are founders of Max de Cusa Arquitectes in Barcelona and both have worked at FOA in both London and Tokyo. They have also studied and taught at the Achitectural Association in London and Berlage Institute in Rotterdam. They were instructors for the Self Sufficient Buildings studio during the first phase of the masters program.

Antoni Brey (URBIOTICA)- URBIOTICA designs, develops and commercializes a complete range of technology based products and services meant to improve the management and user experience of urban spaces, offering advanced functionality for the connected city.

Julio Gaeta (Gaeta Springhall Arquitectos)- Julio Gaeta is a Mexican-Uruguaian Architect  and principal of Gaeta-Springall Architects, with projects in Mexico, Uruguay, Costa Rica and Brazil.

Maria Solé Bravo (director of StAP-BCN)- Maria Solé Bravo is established in Barcelona where she combines her own architecture practice with some trans-disciplinary projects (in Spain and Scandinavia). She is the director of StAP-BCN, an academic program in Barcelona for international architecture students.

Andreu Ulied (MCrit)- Andreu Ulied is co-founder of Mcrit and a professor of the Master of Urban Planning at Public School of Administration and of different programs of teaching at UPC, UAB and UPF.
